Roles Within Special Education
Educational Diagnosticians
Educational diagnosticians assess students’ learning needs and determine eligibility for special education services. They play a key role in developing individualized education plans and guiding instructional strategies.
Special Education Teachers (SPED)
SPED teachers provide specialized instruction tailored to students’ unique learning needs. They develop and implement IEPs, adapt curriculum, and support academic and behavioral growth.
SPED Paraprofessionals
Special education paraprofessionals work alongside teachers to support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs. They provide individualized assistance, help implement IEPs, and reinforce instructional strategies that promote student progress and independence.
